Colin has arrived!

Colin Dean Lea joined the world on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 @ 1:18 PM. He was a big healthy boy weighing in at 9 lbs. and 21.5 inches. He has very large feet and hands.

Mom, dad and baby came home Friday (May 17) afternoon to begin the adventure. Things were rocky the first week. Operating on little sleep and learning the art of breastfeeding kept us at our wits end. We visited a lactation consultant on Thursday (May 23) and she suggested a variety of things to try. It seems to be going better at times, but not consistently. Colin's Aunt Tina and Uncle Chris are visiting this weekend (Memorial), giving mom and dad a little bit of rest. We are starting to see a sleep pattern evolve, but as sure as we settle into this routine it's bound to change. He is a very happy boy in the late morning/early afternoon and sleeps well during the day and evening. He gets fussy between 7-9 pm. Bedtime for him is between 10:45 pm - midnight, although it has been getting a little earlier each night. He generally sleeps for 3 hrs. and wakes up for a feeding around 2 am. Wakes again around 6 am for another feeding and then again at 10 am, which is when mom and dad wake for the day. We hope things will begin to even out here in the next couple of weeks.

The pets have been great. They welcomed Colin w/ open paws and are very curious to all of his sounds and his purpose. They have been patient w/ not getting much attention.
